Volunteer

As a part of our faith community, parents are encouraged to participate in the spiritual, intellectual and social development of their children. The enthusiasm and dedication of parent volunteers contributes to SJA’s positive atmosphere and is an integral part of our school’s success.

Parents can help the school in many ways, including, becoming a volunteer for the elementary classroom parties or events or becoming a junior high special event coordinator or helper. Parents can work in the front office, assist classroom teachers, serve on the School Advisory Board or Parent School Organization, help with approved fundraising events, coach athletic teams, work with the drama program, guide scouts, enhance service projects, etc.

Individuals who volunteer in the school will be asked to complete the Diocesan mandated background check and complete Protecting God’s Children. All volunteers are expected to dress appropriately. Pre-school siblings are not allowed to accompany parent volunteers to school.

Protecting God’s Children™ Program

Out of concern for the safety and well-being of children, every diocesan, parish, school or religious education employee or volunteer who is involved with minors on a regular, recurring basis and those who may have an opportunity to be alone with children during parish, school or religious education sponsored events, are required to attend Protecting God’s Children program. Of all the safe environment programs available, Protecting God’s Children was selected for the Joliet Diocese. It was determined to be the best possible program primarily because it is comprehensive, professional and appealing.
