On Friday, November 9th St. Joan of Arc students and faculty gathered in the church to celebrate, honor, and thank our veterans.
The celebration included the singing of patriotic songs lead by the St. Joan of Arc elementary chior and a flag ceremony by SJA Cub Scouts. Eighth grade students were chosen to read compositions they had written about the songs “America the Beautiful” and “My Country Tis of Thee”. The highlight of the celebration was guest speaker Mr. Banas who is a Vietnam Veteran. Mr. Banas spoke to the students about the importance of God, country, and family. After his speech, Mr. Banas was presented with cards to take back to his fellow veterans at American Legion Post 43. The cards had been made by the fourth and fifth grade students as part of their study of the history and significance of Veterans Day.
