Sixth grade social studies has a focus on world history, examining periods from the Stone Age through the Renaissance, including ancient Greece, Rome, China, India, and the Middle East. Students also create a Greek Myth project in the second trimester.
In seventh grade, students investigate the formation of the United States, as it relates to European exploration and will study for and take the United States and Illinois Constitutions, continuing with the early development of our nation.
Eighth grade analyzes more recent U.S. history from Reconstruction through the Civil Rights Movement and produces a research project that mirrors the National History Day competition. Eighth grade students also participate in the Junior Achievement program. The Junior Achievement program is delivered by volunteers who help students foster work-readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy skills, and use experiential learning to inspire students to dream big and reach their potential.
