Junior High Spanish

We are proud to offer a comprehensive Spanish program for students in grades 6th, 7th, and 8th. Classes are held five days a week, providing consistent exposure to the language and culture. Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to prepare students for success in high school Spanish. By the time they complete our program, many students are well-equipped to advance directly into Spanish 2, skipping Spanish 1 entirely. Through engaging lessons and activities, we aim to foster a love for the Spanish language and an appreciation for its rich cultural heritage.

Spanish is the fourth most commonly spoken language in the world. The ability to understand and speak Spanish gives students the opportunity to visit any one of twenty-one countries that speak Spanish and feel at home. Even in the United States, knowing Spanish can open doors and create new opportunities. In addition, students become better global citizens and increase their multicultural awareness when they study and learn another language.

St. Joan of Arc is happy to have all 6th through 8th grade students participate in Spanish class five days a week, working to complete a Level 1 high school Spanish program. Students will use the online ¡Qué chévere! Level 1 text series. They will focus on four essential skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking in the target language. Geography, related culture, vocabulary, and grammar points identified in the scope and sequence will be a progressive focus in 6th-8th grades.
