Spanish is the fourth most commonly spoken language in the world. The ability to understand and speak Spanish gives you the ability to visit any one of twenty-one countries in the world that speak Spanish and feel at home. Even in the United States, knowing Spanish can open doors to you.
In addition students become better global citizens and increase their multicultural awareness when they study and learn another language. St Joan of Arc is happy to have all 5th through 8th grade students participate in Spanish class five days a week working to complete a level 1 high school Spanish program.
Students will use the online ¡Qué chévere! Level 1 text series. Students will focus on 4 essential skills - reading, writing, listening, and speaking in the target language. Geography, related culture, vocabulary, and grammar points identified in the scope and sequence will be a progressive focus in 5th-8th grades.
