Junior High Art

Art classes within junior high expand on the elementary foundations of art elements and principles.

Students develop increasingly sophisticated creative strategies, skills, and habits of mind through artistic practices. Lessons will make connections to math, science, language arts, and social studies as we discuss both art from different time periods and art from other countries. Students will be able to form a broader knowledge and understanding of our rich and diverse historical and cultural heritage.

Projects will then be inspired by the artwork we have seen. Architecture is also discussed and projects created from famous structures we review. Junior high students attend art class twice a week. All lessons are aligned with the National Standards of Visual Arts. We have a yearly art show during Catholic School’s Week that showcase our students’ artwork.
