Elementary Technology (Kindergarten – Third Grade)

The students learn many basic operations and concepts in technology class.  Some skills include: identify parts of the computer, log on and off the computer independently, use the mouse, identify and use toolbar in Microsoft Word, and navigate teacher chosen websites.

During the primary grades, students are also exposed to many of developmentally appropriate technology projects. Computers are used for problem-solving activities, creating simple publishing projects, painting and drawing, and slideshow presentations. Third grade students develop storytelling and research skills through projects.

All elementary students work to improve their keyboarding skills.  In kindergarten, the students learn to locate the keys on the keyboard and two hand typing begins in grade one.  The focus of keyboarding in elementary classrooms is accuracy.
