Principal’s Welcome

photo-sweeney-headshotDear Prospective Parents,

Thank you for sharing your interest in St. Joan of Arc School, a National Blue Ribbon School. The philosophy at St. Joan of Arc School draws on an eighty-eight year tradition of academic excellence and Benedictine tradition. High standards, strong motivation, effective discipline and an atmosphere of caring combine to foster excellence. The high quality of student performance is reflected on our standardized test scores and the success of our graduates in academically demanding Catholic and public high schools. Full day and half-day Kindergarten and Prekindergarten 4 is available as well as a half-day Prekindergarten 3.

Our curriculum meets or exceeds all regulations and guidelines established by the State and Diocese of Joliet.  Student diagnostic tests including the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS), AIMS-Web, Fountas and Pinnell, and Gates-MacGinitie are administered at various grade levels in September to provide a base-line from which to track student yearly academic growth. Student learning services are provided to all students who require additional support throughout the school year by a highly-qualified staff.

In addition to providing St. Joan of Arc students with a stimulating education, there are numerous opportunities for participating in extra-curricular activities ranging from very successful athletics program to chess club and Illinois Math and Science Academy Fusion Program (IMSA).

Students also share in the very active faith life of the school. St. Joan of Arc strives to create a special bond among the students, the home, the school, and the Church, so that all share the strong sense of community. Each day begins at St. Joan of Arc with a communal prayer. Students participate in local community service activities, attend weekly Mass, volunteer as altar servers, and embrace the values of empathy and hospitality, the latter a hallmark of the Benedictine Tradition on which the school was founded.

New parents and students will find the St. Joan of Arc School community to be most welcoming.  St. Joan of Arc School represents affordable excellence in the Catholic tradition. Tuition costs are supplemented by the parish (for those who qualify for in-parish tuition) and for all school families through terrific fund-raising, community building events. Tuition assistance through both St. Joan of Arc School and the Diocese of Joliet is available based on financial need.  Please contact the school office to arrange a tour or ask questions. I look forward to meeting prospective parents and students whenever they visit the school.

Best regards,

Michael Sweeney
