Music

musicStudents at SJA participate in music classes once a week. In grades Kindergarten through grade two, students participate in vocal and rhythmical activities that incorporate music theory. This includes learning about musical symbols and using them to create music. Students also learn about instruments of the orchestra as well as how the instruments sound.

In grades three and four, students increase their music theory knowledge by playing recorders and other instruments. In grades five through eight, students participate in music history and music appreciation. Subjects such as musicals, opera and ballet are a few of the topics covered.

Students at SJA also have the opportunity to show what they have learned by participating in the school’s Christmas program.
