Multimedia

The goals of the Multimedia Communications program are to improve the communication skills of our students, to promote cooperative learning, to enable students to discover individual interests and talents, and to expose them to various forms of technology. With the program, our students learn from one another, as they become more confident and competent with technology they will use in their future careers.

Students enter the multimedia program in fourth grade, and each year they work in cooperative groups to complete ever more challenging projects.

mmcThe groups vary in size from three to more than 20 students. Assigned activities progress from basic desktop publishing through multimedia authoring, video and audio editing, and video production. The curriculum’s culmination occurs in eighth grade, when students participate in a live news show that is broadcast each week to junior high classrooms via our in-house cable television.

Because communication skills will be a vital part of every student’s future learning and working environment, it is important that we provide opportunities for each of them to acquire and improve these skills as much and as often as possible.
