July 31st, 2018 Principal Letter

Dear St. Joan of Arc School Parents,

Summer’s lease hath all too short a date.  (Shakespeare, Sonnet 18)

As the all too brief summer break winds down, the excitement of another school year begins to build. Hopefully there has been sufficient time for family vacations, reading, and just relaxing with friends. St. Joan of Arc teachers have been frequent visitors to school during the summer. On a very warm day in mid-July, they worked together with the assistance of Mrs. Barenbrugge’s sons and friends, to move a number of classrooms (excluding the junior high school). This was done to create a little more floor space for Kindergarten classes, to make use of two classrooms that were not scheduled to be used this school year, and to present the shortest passing time for students between classes.

The staff will remain largely unchanged from last year. However, Mrs. Kimble accepted a position at her own parish school that is conveniently located one mile from her residence. I am pleased to announce that Mrs. Angela Suwanski is the new Kindergarten teacher. Mrs. Suwanski, a graduate of Bradley University, possesses a wealth of teaching experience, including a decade teaching in the Archdiocese of Joliet. Although Mrs. Suwanski’s most recent experience has been at the Kindergarten level, she has also taught Pre-Kindergarten and Middle School. In addition, Mrs. Suwanski has experience at her own parish as a Religion Education teacher.

As usual, Mr. Bray and Mr. Hernandez, along with the workers from Buck Services, have the school at a very high level of fit and finish. We await in anticipation of the first day of school. Class rosters will be announced August 22nd.

Thank you for supporting Catholic education,

Michael Sweeney, Principal
