The Garden of the Kinders

We are on the final countdown to our Mothers’ Tea Party. The children have been working hard on the program and look forward to performing for Mom. The children may wear dress up clothing on Friday. Feel free to send a change of clothing as we will still have recess.

The final two high frequency words for the year are: “how” and “where”. This brings the total to 80. I am so pleased at the children’s reading this year!

I wish all you mothers a Happy Mother’s Day! I hope you had a wonderful day and that your little ones remembered to give you a large white envelope with your card and gift inside. If they didn’t go through the backpack!

In Religion this week, we will be doing the final (4th) Diocesan assessment. We continue to have our in-room crowning of Mary, and the children eagerly await his/her turn. We will be attending Mass on Friday for the Volunteer Appreciation Mass.

The high frequency words for the week are: “into” and “just”. After this week, there will only be two more.

The children can no longer check out books from the Library.

The children are practicing the songs we will sing at the Mother’s Tea on the 25th. They are doing a great job!

Let us all hold the McMahon family in thought and prayer.

The field trip to the fire and police stations was fabulous! It was a lot of walking, but the kids hung in there and no one complained. AND the weather held for us! I’m sure the children told you all about it.

On Friday afternoon we went to see Beauty and the Beast, presented by the older children. Maybe your family came back in the evening to see it. Some of the little girls said they wanted to “do that” when they got to Jr High!

The high frequency words for the week are: “very”, “an” and “over”. Please remember to send in the ring words so we can add them.

Ms Mayor will be at a conference on Monday and Wednesday. Ms Irene will be back from vacation on Tuesday.

We are all looking forward to our Spring field trip to the Lisle Police and Fire departments. You should have received an e-mail from school concerning the clothing attire for the day. Casual, appropriate clothes and comfortable shoes should be worn. In the event of rain, we will postpone our trip. If you have not yet sent in your permission slip, please do so by Tuesday.

We will again be reading several Bible stories for this week’s Religion.

The high frequency words for the week are: “no’, “came”, and “ask”. We have so many words now that it is fun to make up whole sentences on our own!

Our Smart Board was installed after school on Friday. However, it is not going to be “smart” for awhile. I need a computer and the electricity connection has to be figured out.
