Couldn’t do it without you!
From time to time over the next several months we’ll be sending out a call for volunteers for next year. We have so many wonderful programs that are totally fueled by volunteer help. Besides giving you a chance to find out all that is available to your children we hope some of you might consider helping out next year.
If you are interested just email the address under the selection and someone from this years committee will get in touch with you at some point over the summer.
As always – thank you so much for all you do!
Junior High Events Committee
The Junior High Events Committee is responsible for coordinating three special events throughout the year, along with the end of year picnic. Dates are set by the office. There is a junior high budget for these events. The coordinators arrange the volunteers and all details for each of these events.
The three “special” events are team events, usually relays, in which classes compete against each other for the chance to keep a large traveling trophy in their homeroom. It is followed by a small snack. The budget for this event is usually kept around a dollar per student for the snack, and minimal costs for any game equipment that might be needed.
The end of year picnic is also coordinated by this committee. The school arranges for use of the shelter at the Lisle Community Park. The coordinators arrange all food, beverage, volunteers, and an event to take up a portion of the day. The remaining junior high budget goes towards this, however, much of the food and beverage is donated.
If this is something you think you might be interested in for 2012/2013 school year please let us know.

Dear Parents,
The school year is beginning to wind down and that means it’s time to start planning and preparing for St. Joan of Arc’s 16th Annual Dinner Dance Auction to be held on November 16th, 2012.
We are looking for dedicated volunteers to head and assist with committees and various functions for the auction. The success of our largest fundraiser depends greatly on parent volunteers. With so many details and projects put into the auction, there’s something to fit every interest and schedule.
Any commitment, big or small, would be greatly appreciated!! If you would like to volunteer for the 2012 Auction or have any questions, please contact us at gaoii@comcast.net or 630-541-6844 as soon as possible.
Thank you,
George and Jeannine Ossey

DEADLINE TO REGISTER FOR VOLLEYBALL IS 5/16
Parents,
The volleyball registration form is now on the SJA Website at “http://school.sjalisle.org/” under the Co-Curricular/Athletics tab. Go to “Individual Sports” scroll down to volleyball and print out the form.
We are doing things a little different this year:
1. The payment structure has changed. Each sport will have a registration fee for each child. The fee for volleyball is $45.00 per child.
2. All registration forms must have the $45.00 volleyball fee attached as well as the $40.00 uniform deposit check, if a check does not accompany the registration form that child will not be counted as registered. Please make out checks separately; the uniform deposit check does not get cashed unless a uniform is not returned.
3. The deadline to register is May 16th.
4. The league needs our team commitments by June 5th, so we will be doing evaluations the week of May 21st for all grades in order An email from the lead coach of each grade will go out to all who have registered as to when times and days will be for evaluations.
5. Only kids transferring in from other schools over the summer will be allowed to join later, all others who sign up after May 16th will be put on a waiting list and are not assured a spot on a team.
6. The football and boys volleyball practices do not conflict with each other and we will be requesting to the league that no boy’s volleyball games be played on Sundays. We cannot guarantee that the league will grant this, but they have in the past for Ss. Peter & Paul. This is done so more kids can play both sports.
If you have any questions about volleyball please contact your coordinators.

Sports Award Banquet
8th grade families, we will be having the sports award banquet on May 29th at 6:30 in the Par. The 7th grade will be handling all of the responsibilities for this event, so all you have to do is show up. You will be receiving an evite sometime next week, make sure you RSVP so we can order the food. There will be a price for each family which will be on that e-vite as well, so please send your payment into the office with an enveloped marked for the “Sports Award Banquet”. I want to emphasize that ALL 8th graders and their parents are welcome, not just the kids that played 8th grade sports. This is another opportunity for all the 8th graders to hang out one last time before graduation. If you do not receive the evite by the end of next week, please send me an email so we can get you on that list.
Thanks,

Please note a change regarding the April 25th Kindergarten Field Trip:
Since the children will be walking to the Police and Fire Stations and having a picnic lunch please dress them in season appropriate play clothes and comfortable shoes.

4th Grade Parents
We need coaches for volleyball next year. If you are interested please go to the SJA Website at http://school.sjalisle.org/ and check out the co-Curricular/Athletics page and grab for the coaching application while you’re there.
All coaches, must be CPR/AED certified and we will be having a class on May 3rd in the parish center. Please contact athleticdirector@sjalisle.org to get on the class list. The AED portion is just as important as the CPR certification and we have not found one on line yet, so you should probably take the class at SJA. (A couple parents paid $25 last year and received it on line but not the AED certification and it was not allowed.)
We really could use your help and it’s fun to be a part of your son or daughter’s team activity here at SJA.

Mark your Calendars for SJA Summer School!
Summer School is on the SJA calendar for the week of June 18 and the week of June 25. As last year, classes are scheduled to run from 8:00 am- 11 am every day, Monday through Friday, with the summer school day ending at noon.
The MindBlast Committee is busily preparing subjects and activities, primarily for grades K-5, that your child is sure to enjoy. Kick off your summer plans with a visit to SJA summer school. Information for online registration coming soon!
If you have any questions, contact MindBlast coordinator, Kay Maslanka, at mindblast@sjalisle.org.

The end of the year is quickly approaching. With that in mind the last day for your child/children to check out library books is May 9th. All library books are due May 23rd.

Check back from time to time as we’ll put up more as we receive them……….and if you know of any that should be listed please let us know at sports@sjalisle.org
