Congratulations to all the First Communicants! Their day was very special and they all looked so holy and angelic. Thank you for all that you did to prepare your child to receive the Blessed Sacrament.
Thank you to the parents who chaperoned the field trip to Legoland this past Monday. It is the perfect field trip for second graders. They really had fun and they were inspired to create Lego projects of their own.

While reading “Miss Daisy Is Crazy” with the Authors group, I challenged both groups to read 2,000 pages by June 1.If they reach the goal they will enjoy Munchkins from Dunkin’ Donuts.
I am confident they will reach their goal. If your child is in either of my reading groups and can NOT have a munchkin on June 4 please let me know.
Next week is the last full week of school. Summer vacation is “in the air”. Please make sure that your child has their own supply of books to read. We will be having outdoor D.E.A.R time when the weather permits.

What a beautiful day we had last Sunday! I am looking forward to another day just as beautiful this Sunday. Please have your children at school on Saturday at 9:00 for practice. You may drop them off on the lower level of school and pick them up in church at 10:30. On Sunday please bring them to school at 1:30. The ceremony starts at 2:00. Please pick your child up from the classroom after the ceremony.
Monday is our field trip. Thank you to the moms and dad who volunteered to chaperone.Your child may wear play clothes and sneakers. There is a lot of walking and climbing so flip flops are not the best choice. Please pack a lunch in a paper bag that can be thrown away. No lunches boxes please and no glass bottles. Also, we will not be shopping in the Legoland store. Please do not send any money with your child.

AUTHORS: The Authors have completed the second grade Storytown Basal Reader. We are going to finish
the year with short novels. We will read them in school and do various activities with them. There will be spelling words and Robust Vocab. They will have just a spelling test on Fridays. There will be no weekly test or Think Central homework. Instead I encourage you to have your child read out loud to you every night for fifteen minutes.
The novel for next week is “Freckle Juice” by Judy Blume.

RELIGION: We are ready! The first group of children will be receiving their First Communion this Sunday at 2:00. We will have practice on Saturday at 9:00. Please bring your child to school at 9:00 to the lower level of the school. Names will be posted outside each classroom where the children are to meet. We will process over to church for our practice. You may pick your child up at the church at 10:30. On Sunday please have your child in the assigned classroom by 1:30. On Sunday, you must pick your child up from the classroom after the celebration. The same procedure will be in place for the following weekend for the second group of children.
Monday May 14 is our field trip. Please return the permission slip with the money by next week. On Monday the children may wear play clothes and good climbing shoes. There is an indoor playground. Please pack a disposable lunch. We like to be able to throw everything away after lunch so we don’t have to worry about lunch bags being left behind.
