Eighth Grade Happenings

Eighth graders experiment with rocket science!!

8th Grade Happenings

Eighth Graders lunch on the lawn with their 3rd grade buddies as they interview their little friends for the 8th grade Buddy Book Project.

The interview gives our 8th grade authors more meaningful information as they begin writing in the next few weeks

8th Grade Happenings

Every year, about this time, we begin to plan, especially 8th grade events. We are currently looking at three major 8th grade events:

  • The 8th Grade Valentine Social, February 10
  • The 8th Grade vs. Lisle Police basketball game, February 16
  • Graduation  Dance, June 2

These three events are the part of what makes 8thn grade so special. The memories last well in the future.

We need 2 chair persons for each of these events so planning can begin. Each event has a host of volunteers already signed up who are willing and able to help pull together one very special happening, but each committee lacks the leadership component. If you can help us please let us know. Contact Mr. Wind at wind@sjalisle.org as soon as possible.

8th Grade Graduation Dance

As we draw near to this special event, we would like to share some general information:

  • The dance will be held on Saturday, May 28 at St. Joan of Arc School from 7-10:30pm.
  • From 7-7:30: During this half hour only, the parents are invited to visit Memory Lane and to see the decorations.
  • Please drop your child off at the MAIN entrance to the school by the office.  This is where they will be picked up as well.  THEY SHOULD NOT BE DROPPED OFF AT THE JUNIOR HIGH LOBBY.
  • Dress is rather formal. Boys wear suits or sport coats and ties; girls wear nice dresses or skirts (no long or “prom” dresses). No inappropriate attire will be allowed.
  • Music will be provided by a DJ.
  • Hors d’oeuvres, desserts, snacks and water will be furnished by the parents and served throughout the dance.
  • Students will not be allowed to leave during the dance, except to go home. All children must leave with the responsible adult. We encourage all parents to come pick up their child promptly at 10:30 PM. Please remember at 10:30PM to pick up your child’s Memory Lane item.
  • Students will receive their yearbooks as well as their 8th grade pictures that were taken at May Crowning.
  • If you are unable to attend the dance or in the case of an emergency, please contact Kim Clements at (630) 408-3059 or Mara Cooney at (630) 408-4087.
  • The dance is being underwritten by the successful 8th grade fundraiser s as well as the generous donations by the parents.

IMPORTANT-Don’t forget to send in your permission slips. Return the slips to the homeroom teachers in an envelope marked “graduation dance”.

Thanks again to ALL for helping make this a special and memorable evening for all our children….
