Dear Parents,
In less than two weeks one of our favorite times of the year is coming up: our celebration of Catholic Schools Week. This
year’s theme is “Catholic Schools: Faith. Academics. Service. This theme expresses the three priorities that make Catholic Schools stand out.
On Sunday, January 29th we will kick off CSW with our traditional “Fill the Church Mass”! We encourage all of our school families to attend the 11:30 Mass as we celebrate together the blessings of our Catholic education. The ministries of this Mass will be performed by members of the SJA school community.

This week is Catholic Schools Week.
Each morning we will be collecting funds to help support Sister Carolyn’s Adopt a Student program; our hope is to raise money for our own SJA families in need. Students are encouraged to earn money doing chores or jobs at home and turn in donations to their homeroom teacher any morning during Catholic School’s Week.
The book fair is open Sunday through Wednesday. Fourth grade students can drop by before school on any of these days. The only time they will be allowed to visit the book fair during the school day will be on Tuesday.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK!
This week we will be celebrating all Catholic Schools and how blessed we are to be a part of such a wonderful and faith filled school and SJA community. Here are the special things that are coming up this week:
Sunday – Fill the Church 11:30 Mass to start off the week! This is the most important part of the entire week, so please try to make it to Mass. Following Mass will be Open House until 2:00 p.m.
Monday – Ice Cream Treat
Tuesday – 4th grade to the Book Fair (during Reading this day, Mrs. Kenney has set up an appointment for the 4th graders to visit the Book Fair. This will be the ONLY time they can go during classes. The ONLY other time that they can go will be before school. The Book Fair will be open Monday-Wednesday. It is not open all week this year.)
Wednesday – Crazy sock, hat, and tie day – They are allowed to wear all three. (The rule with the hats is: if a child takes off his/her hat, they will immediately have to go put it away in their locker. So if a child wears a funny hat to school instead of a baseball cap or the like, he/she will have to put it in their locker as soon as they take it off their head.)
Thursday – Performing Arts
Friday – SPIRIT RALLY (Red and White Day!)
This week in:
Social Studies – We will be continuing to learn about the Midwest Region.
Thursday/Friday – Midwest States/Capitals Quiz (The students need to learn THREE things: Location of the states, state names, capital names. They will need to know where each state is and write both the state and its correct capital.) Only a quarter of a point will be taken off for spelling, but please encourage your children to learn how to spell them too.)
Religion – Ten Commandments
As you can see, this week is filled with all sorts of fun activities! Being part of a Catholic School is a privilege and a blessing and I am glad to be sharing that privilege with all of you! I hope you have a wonderful week!
